A 6.7 Cummins intake horn is an aftermarket intake component designed to improve airflow into the intake manifold of Ram trucks equipped with the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine. It is also commonly called an intake elbow or high-flow intake manifold. The factory intake horn can be replaced with a larger, smoother design to reduce airflow restriction and improve the overall intake path.
Improve Airflow
The main purpose of a 6.7 Cummins intake horn is to create a smoother route for compressed air entering the engine. Aftermarket designs typically use a larger opening and smoother internal shape than the factory component. This can support better airflow, throttle response, and turbocharger efficiency, although actual performance gains depend on the rest of the engine setup.
Some high-flow intake horns also provide additional threaded ports for boost gauges, sensors, or other accessories. For example, one current design uses four 1/8-inch NPT ports and a 3-3/8-inch inlet.
Grid Heater Options
Many 6.7 Cummins intake horn upgrades are available with different grid-heater configurations. Some replace the factory grid heater with a delete plate, while others retain heating capability through a redesigned heater element.
A complete Fleece intake horn and grid-heater upgrade, for example, combines a high-flow intake horn, high-flow intake plate, and coil-style heater. The system is listed for 2007.5-2024 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 6.7L Cummins applications.
