Sportening, a social media application for fans of sports who want to use chatrooms, information and statistics and to score players post-games--has secured the $7 million amount of a seed funding round, which includes an investment in the form of Real Madrid star Luka Modri?. The social network is a startup that aims to connect fans with groups of fans for certain sports teams.

The company has 250,000 current customers who are mostly located in the US, UK and Italy and plans to recruit six million customers to join its platform by 2023. Sportening was established in Modri?'s home country of Croatia and was the first business to receive funding from the soccer star, according to the press release.

Modri?, winner of the 2018 Ballon d'Or award, joins Superbet Group founder Sacha Dragic, PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel's Clarium Capital and former Sequoia Capital Global Equities COO Ralph Ho as investors in Sportening.
