There's been a lot of talk lately about cannabidiol (CBD), among the naturally occurring cannabinoids found in cannabis (hemp and marijuana) plants.


CBD derived from the hemp plant is gaining attention for the therapeutic properties without the mind-altering effects cbd oil with thc. The reason being unlike other cannabinoids, such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD by itself does not create a “high” or psychoactive effect.


A World Health Organization (WHO) report found that naturally-occurring CBD is safe and well tolerated in humans, and there's no proof any public health-related problems connected with the utilization of pure CBD: “In its pure state, cannabidiol does not appear to own abuse potential or cause harm.




What is CBD used to treat?


The WHO determined that CBD has been demonstrated as a fruitful treatment for epilepsy, including some rare childhood epilepsy syndromes that don't react to anti-seizure medications. The FDA recently approved Epidiolex, a purified kind of CBD for a few types of epilepsy.

Marijuana-derived CBD is extracted from marijuana plants, and tend to contain THC levels that are greater than 0.3 percent. Marijuana-based CBD products are illegal at the federal level but are legal under some state laws. In Illinois, marijuana-based CBD is legal for medical use.


How do you take CBD?


Hemp-derived CBD is readily obtainable in many areas of the united states, as a fat, supplement or gummy, or infused into skin care products like lotions. The products are often available online.


CBD oil is a popular kind of CBD. Most CBD oil arises from industrial hemp and is created by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant. CBD oil may be used orally (placed under the tongue with a stopper), or it can be put into moisturizers and applied topically.

CBD may also increase the chance of liver damage or lung problems.
