Solar PV Panel FAQs
01
How do you use Portable Solar Panel?
A: Portable solar panels can be used to charge devices directly or to charge batteries or solar generators. Some panels can be attached directly to a phone or small device to charge when the sun is out (the panel has to be tilted towards the sun). However, direct sunlight charging can be inconsistent. It would be better to use a solar panel to capture the energy and store it in some kind of battery (like a solar controller, battery pack, or charging station) and connect the device there - especially with a stronger panel.
02
How long will the Portable Solar Panel last?
A: A good quality, permanent, fixed solar panel should continue to produce a steady energy output for 25 to 30 years, but it's a good idea to check to see if the panel is covered by a warranty. We've seen quite a few cheap panels stop working after a few years, not covered by warranty.
Many portable solar panels are made from lighter materials and are less likely to last as long. They risk damage during shipping or after prolonged use outdoors, so it's best to buy durable panels that can withstand the hazards of travel.
03
Are portable solar panels waterproof?
A: Most portable solar panels are waterproof or weather-resistant -- meaning they shouldn't be submerged underwater, but can be left outside in light rain. However, that doesn't mean every portable panel should be left outside permanently. Please consult a Portable Solar Panel manufacturer to ensure the panel will meet your needs.
04
Can solar panels be charged inside?
A: Portable solar panels charge if you point them towards a sunny window or skylight. However, it won't be as effective as directly charging the panel outside in bright sunlight.
