Next door you can view one of the most iconic cityscapes in the world, from The Skyline London. Enjoy afternoon tea overlooking spectacular views of London, from the rooftop of one of the best luxury hotels in London. Moored in the river nearby is HMS Belfast, a genuine World War II vintage cruiser with an illustrious battle record. Now maintained by the Imperial War Museum, members of the public can join a tour to learn about its history and view its nooks and crannies.
Less than a mile from the Tower of London is one of the city’s Victorian gems, Leadenhall Market. Originally a food market, it’s now a prime spot for shopping in general, as well as being home to some excellent pubs and restaurants. A similar distance away is the Monument to the Great Fire of London, a 62-metre column erected in 1677 to commemorate the disastrous 1666 fire. If you feel up to it, you can actually climb the Monument’s internal staircase – all 311 steps – to gape at the tremendous panorama from the viewing platform at the top.
And that’s really just getting started on the sites and sensations in store around the Tower of London.
