HoYoVerse is cracking records on accounts and folks leaking details about its games. According to a study published in Axios, miHoYo – the Shanghai-based owner of the HoYoVerse logo and parent company of Genshin Impact publisher Cognosphere – requested a California court to subpoena information from social networking platform Twitter concerning the identity of people running prominent Genshin Impact leak accounts. The subpoena was issued in February 2023 with respect to miHoYo and ask for that Twitter to provide “names, telephone numbers, IP addresses, along with other information sufficient to identify” the individuals who run the accounts @mmowts, @mmowts, and @mmowts. These three accounts have posted leaked details about unreleased servings of Genshin Impact. In many cases, the causes of the info are unclear, but likely from test builds from the game distributed to playtesters by miHoYo, or via data mining activities.
