We all know that MetaMask is a crypto wallet that is available for usage on a mobile phone as well as a PC. On a desktop, it works as a browser extension. On the other hand, if you wish to use MetaMask on your mobile phone, you can use it as a MetaMask app that has the same features as the desktop version of MetaMask. The best thing about using MetaMask is the fact that it has some useful features built within the wallet interface. The app, no doubt allows you to safeguard your crypto assets, but at the same time, it allows you to access the decentralized world without much difficulty. Hence, in this tutorial, I am going to discuss with you a very useful feature of MetaMask i.e. accessing the in-built browser present within the MetaMask App.

IMPORTANT: Please note that this in-built browser does not work as a full-featured browser such as Chrome or Firefox. In short, we can say that the in-built browser in MetaMask allows access to only some dApps.

Steps to use MetaMask browser to access dApps

Before you begin, please note that we are taking "Cryptokitties" as an example to showcase the whole process to you. However, you can access any other dApp or any Web3-enabled websites by following the same method that is discussed just below:

  1. Sign into your wallet account on the MetaMask app
  2. When signed in, choose the account that you wish to use to access the dApp
  3. For this, you can use the given account selector and choose your preferred account
  4. Now, you must take a look at the options given in the Tab bar
  5. After that, you must open the browser by choosing the browser icon given in the tab bar
  6. Thereafter, you can open a new tab using the given search bar
  7. You may also click on the magnifying glass icon to open the preferred website
  8. Lastly, we just need to sign in to our MetaMask accounts upon being prompted

Things to keep in mind

Before you apply the steps that I have listed above, there are a few important things that you must keep in mind:

  • If you try to access crypto kitties directly, you will be asked to connect to your MetaMask App. But, since you are coming directly from MetaMask, you do not need to take any additional steps to connect to MetaMask, and your account is selected already.
  • While connecting to dApps or any Web3-enabled website, make sure that you verify its credibility. Do not give permission to such apps and websites that you do not trust or you do not know about.

Conclusion:

As seen in this article, connecting a third-party decentralized app or Web3-enabled website to MetaMask is pretty easy. All you need to do is take a few steps and use the built-in browser to carry out the process. I hope, now you won't face any difficulty while doing so.
