Sound issues in Windows 10 have multiple ways to get resolved. It's the most frustrating problem when you are trying to hear something important on your PC, and you can't hear it. When a PC's audio stops working, there can be several reasons why it happens. Hardware and software can both be the reason for no sound on your Windows PC. You can fix sound issues with the below solutions.

 

How to fix 'No Sound' issues on your Windows 10  

The latest updates, unfortunately, bring some issues with audio-related. If Windows 10 suffers from audio issues, the patches are also available. It would be best if you first try some general fixes shown below;

    

Did you check the mute option?

Sometimes we look for a heavy fix around and forget to check basic settings. Hence open basic audio settings and check it its unmute;

  1. On the bottom-right corner, right-click on the sound icon.
  2. Open sound settings.
  3. Click "Sound Control Panel" from the right side.
  4. In the playback tab, right-click on the Green checkmark icon.
  5. Click on Test and see whether sounds are working – A moving green bar on the right.
  6. If it's not working, right-click on the green checkmark device.
  7. Click Properties > Levels.
  8. Slide tabs upward and see if the speaker is unmuted.

Are your sound drivers working well?

Drivers are the most important part of the program in Windows 10. If your sound drivers are missing, corrupt, or outdated, these may cause issues. Hence you have to update or reinstall sound drivers. You can use Driver Updater Pro (an additional program) to get the latest drivers or fix sound drivers manually;

 

  1. Open Device Manager app.
  2. Go to Sound, video, and game controllers.
  3. Right-click and uninstall or update audio devices.
  4. Click Search automatically for drivers.
  5. Wait for the sound driver to be updated. 

 

Try the Windows Audio Troubleshooter

Microsoft has provided in-built Troubleshooters with each issue the Windows PC encounters. If nothing resolves your sound issues, you should run the Audio Troubleshooter. Though these troubleshooters won't fix all issues, it's best to try it before using any other tool;

  1. Open settings from the start menu.
  2. Click on Update & Security.
  3. Select Troubleshoot.
  4. Click Additional troubleshooters.
  5. Select Playing Audio.
  6. Follow shown instructions to fix issues automatically.

You can also go to Windows 10 search box and search "audio troubleshooter" in. Thereafter, find issues and fix audio playback.

 

Use different audio formats

Sometimes one audio format doesn't work on your PC. You need to change the format and try which one is suitable for your computer sound.

  1. Open Control Panel.
  2. Choose Hardware and Sound.
  3. Click on the Sound tab.
  4. The current screen should be the Playback tab.
  5. Right-click Default Device.
  6. Click on Properties.
  7. Navigate to the Advanced tab and stay on Default Format.
  8. Change the setting and click OK.    

Now see whether you can hear through your pc sound system. If not, try the same setting with other audio formats.

 

Here are some additional tips you should check for your PC sound issues.  

 

  • Make sure your audio output is correct.
  • Check and ensure all cables and connections are working well.
  • If needed, turn off audio enhancements for a brief time.
  • Install newer windows updates if audio issues occur after the previous update installation.
